Inside the D.C.-area’s most expensive homes for sale

With the help of Rockville-based multiple-listing service Bright MLS, we compiled a list of some of the most expensive houses for sale in the Washington area.

Listings range from $3.99 million to $10.6 million.

Two of the most expensive listings this month are large estates in Virginia — one with 254 acres and the other with 131 acres. The list also includes a historic Georgetown mansion and three mansions constructed within the past three years, each with at least 12,000-square feet of living space.

Built in 1951 and renovated in 2008, this 7,195-square-foot house has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and two fireplaces. The house includes a first-floor master suite, formal and informal entertaining spaces indoors and outside, an office, updated kitchen, and lower level in-law or au pair suite with a full kitchen. The property extends from Chain Bridge to Loughboro Road. This house was listed at $5.95 million earlier this year.

The property sits on 1.35 acres with a veranda, stone patio, hot tub, waterfall, outdoor fireplace, and outdoor kitchen.
